Virtual Railfan’s LIVE train cameras at the Foster/White Gallery in Seattle, Washington, overlook the South Portal of the historic Great Northern Tunnel on BNSF’s Scenic Subdivision. The nearly one-mile-long tunnel curves beneath downtown Seattle, while the cameras are positioned just north of King Street Station, a major hub for Amtrak Cascades, Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, and Sounder commuter trains.
The Great Northern Tunnel was completed in 1905 by the Great Northern Railway and remains a vital part of BNSF’s Pacific Northwest network today.
